Touraine Chenonceaux AOC is linked to the eponymous castle. Famous worldwide, Château de Chenonceau represents the perfect harmony between nature -water, air and green spaces- and a unique architectural prowess. This recent qualitative AOC strikes a perfect balance between the vineyard land and an exceptional castle.
The geographical area stretches on the hillsides of both Cher river banks and in 27 villages of Indre-et-Loire and of Loir-et-Cher departments. However, this young AOC, created in 2011, only covers 110 hectares.
The AOC vineyards are planted on slopes with a good natural drainage and ideal exposure. The soils are mainly made of limestone, flint&clay and siliceous stones, typical of the Loire Valley and called ‘perruches’ (parrots in French).
The white wines, exclusively made from Sauvignon Blanc, feature an intense aromatic palette with aromas of white flowers, ripe fruit, citrus and even exotic fruits. On the palate, they are fat, round and powerful with a good length.
Touraine Chenonceaux red are vinified with Cabernet Franc and Côt (local Malbec name). They distinguish themselves by their wide aromatic range and refined tannins. The notes of stewed black fruits, liquorice and mint underline the elegance and freshness of the wines.
