We welcome you in our Winemaker’s Cottage located in [the medieval part of] Sancerre, labelled as one of the “most beautiful villages in France”.
Staying at our ‘Gîte de la Chatellenie’ (Chatellenie Country Inn), part of our Joseph MELLOT Group, enables our guests to experience our Winery lifestyle, fully respecting our local environment and traditions.
During your trip, we suggest that you start by visiting our historical cellar, dating back to the 12th century, located on the Sancerre Village hilltop. In this unique place, will be presented the winemaking secrets of our Joseph Mellot Top cuvées which are aged there in French oak barrels.
Feeling hungry? Our Restaurant, ‘Auberge Joseph MELLOT’, is located just a few steps from our Cellar! Enjoy our Chef’s traditional regional dishes paired with one of our Wines.
Continue your tour by walking down the ‘Piton’ (hilltop) to the village center, then head towards the vineyards to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes.
Next stop: our Joseph MELLOT Winery! You will be hosted in our Cellar Door for a free Wine Tasting commented by our staff.
The Winery is too far for you? We have an alternative: right next to our Restaurant, you will find our ‘Vine & Wine’ Store (La vigne et le vin) where you select our wines and other local products. Wine Tasting is also complimentary!
Our fully-furnished cottage house can host up to 9 people.
On the ground floor, you will find the entrance hall, technical and laundry room (washing machine and dryer), fully-equipped kitchen (oven, microwave, refrigerator…), four bedrooms (including a master suite) and two bathrooms.
On the first floor, there are one bathroom and three bedrooms: two of them with one double bed (Valet and Queen size) and the third one with three single beds.
Sheets, towels and baby cot upon request.
Our Cottage is also equipped with TV and WiFi.
You can enjoy our outdoor courtyard, its garden furniture and barbecue set for your Lunches [meals?] and sunbathing of course!
There is a lot of space available including a 120m2 living room, ideal for your family reunions!
